Team Jeanneau racing at Middle Harbour Yacht Club

The new Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 349 “Team Jeanneau” sailed by a crew of 4 again acquitted itself extremely well on the race course turning many heads on competing yachts.

Racing in an 8 to 12 knot northerly, Middle Harbour Yacht Club’s race officer elected to enter the 349 in their Division 2 (a division made up primarily of 35 foot plus Racer/Cruisers & 30 foot plus sports boats), based on her outstanding performance in the Wednesday afternoon race the day before. Whilst Division 3, where the boat should have been racing, consisted of all the production Cruiser / Racers 34 to 43 feet. However with divisions 1 ,2 , and 3 all doing the same course it was a great to get a very good understanding of the relative performance of this new design from Jeanneau with elapsed time black and white race results.

The results show that the 349 in a race of nearly 2 hours, was 4th fastest around the course in Divsion 2,only beaten by a well sailed Nothshore 370 Sport, a 33 foot harbour racer & an Achambault A31 racer cruiser. All the other production cruiser/ racers in Division 3 including 40 footers were at least 7 minutes slower around the course than the 349.

When considering that this 10 meter cruising yacht priced at just $200,000 has all the features required to go cruising with 2 separate enclosed cabins, a large bathroom with separate shower and well appointed galley, she offers those wanting to cruise with family and friends a yacht that also with fantastic performance to race socially.

She will be berthed at MHYC marina arm C till Sunday 30th November, then back at Gibson Marina Bayview where she can be inspected, please call Performance Boating on 997 997 55 or to arrange a convenient time.
