Sun Fast 3300 “Sun Fish” on the podium

A huge congratulations to PBS client Justin Johnson onboard the Jeanneau Sun Fast 3300 “Sun Fish” on an overall win in the GCCM Gold Coast Mackay Yacht Race. The fleet included line honours winner, the super maxi “”Wild Thing”, and SF3300 sister ship “Ignition”, which finished 4th.

“Sun Fish” is a non water-ballasted alloy mast version of the highly successful 3300’s that was commissioned and optimised for East Coast racing by PBS Director Lee Condell, keeping weight to a minimum and using symmetrical spinnakers.

Says skipper Justin “We raced with a crew of four, which worked really well, and found the S sails seem to be a major advantage over the A sails. We took S2, S4 (didn’t use it) and the code 0.

We found that when we had 35 knots we reefed the jib, 2 reefs in the main and the boat just flew! Was super easy to handle. We love the boat and are super happy to have taken out the win on both IRC and ORC”.

PBS has an immaculate fully optioned example available and ready to race. Sun Fast 3300’s have made the podium in the last three Hobart races double-handed, while winning short offshore races crewed and short-handed as well as inshore race series such as the CYCA winter series.
