SUN FAST 3200’s:

The first of two new Sun Fast 3200’s has just arrived, the first “Solstice” will race down the coast out of Bateman’s Bay with Canberra based owner Shane Connelly. On the maiden voyage to the harbour last weekend in a very messy seaway the Sun Fast showed just why it is so renowned offshore with speeds to 13.6 knots with only the main and a No.4 jib up, yet so effortless.

In the mean time Aidan Geyson skippering his Sun Fast 3200 “Streetcar” won the Latitude Ocean Race day inVictoriaand had this to say after his win. “Great to get outside the heads and see how our boat handles in the different conditions in comparison to the bay”. He was beaming and you could tell he really enjoyed the event. He also describes the conditions as about a 2 metre swell with not many breaking waves and 25 knots of wind. The only time “Streetcar” got water over the deck was when they were doing up to 14.5 knots down some swells. No rain and no stress on the crew.

So for a yacht that punches well above it’s weight in terms of performance, has an extremely comfortable cockpit and an interior that is astonishing these yachts are exceptional value. “Solstice” owner Shane describes it as being equivalent to a sportscar, but with accommodation.
