Integrity motor yachts are extremely economical with their reliable John Deere diesel engine, but now Integrity is offering optional Steyr powered hybrid engine options for an even greener alternative. The Steyr system combines a light weight efficient diesel combustion engine with an electric motor. When running the diesel engine the electric motor charges a large bank of batteries, while in electric cruise mode the boat is driven solely by the electric motor, however in the lower speed range, depending on the requirements of the driver and the battery condition, the boost mode is used and the combustion engine is then supported by the massive torque of the electric motor. The result is phenomenally low running costs.
