NEW 44 DECK-SALOON:

The first of the stunning new 44 Deck-Saloon’s has now arrived and is sailing on Pittwater and in the words of owner Murray Thompson “it’s everything we hoped it would be and more”. Jeanneau used to be accused of being very conservative in terms of the style of their yachts, but those days have long gone with the company now offering a most distinctive and elegant range of yachts. With the new 44DS they have taken it even further and designed a yacht that is intended to be different from the norm, yet still be stylish and attractive both on the water and down below. The interior is styled by the Franck Darnet office in nearbyNantesonly 30km from the factory and his design office is primarily involved in superyacht design. The result is an interior that is modern, bright and sophisticated highlighting the spaciousness of this yacht. There are several innovative features including the sliding galley counter, large opening transom window and the option of a wine fridge. On the water it is an absolute delight being moderately stiff, extremely well balanced and very forgiving.

The current Trade-A-Boat magazine has an extensive review done inFranceby Patrick Bollin (issue 424) and makes good reading. It can be summarized in this statement “from bow to transom the new Sun Odyssey is a pretty hull, and being a voluminous boat, her sheer is a pleasure to behold.”
