Peter Byford and his crew from the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club have been competing at the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week for a few years now and have been consistently getting good results.
Parting with their loved Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 42i, Joi de Vie, Peter took delivery of his new Sun Odyssey 469 in May this year and immediately started getting her ready to race.
Aptly name L’Esprit de la mer (The Spririt of the Sea), Byford and crew were consistent over the week leading them to take first place overall with just one point to spare.
Third place in their division went to another Jeanneau, Encore. Peter’s previous yacht, Joi de Vie, took our third place in Cruising Division 3.
