Jeanneau Cup 2:

The fleet of Jeanneau’s taking part in our series out of Middle Harbour Yacht Club were blessed with picture perfect conditions again. An early building N’Easter took us down the harbour at a good pace, under the harbour bridge and West to Bedlam Point where tactics came into play to avoid the wind holes that are prevalent in the western reaches of the harbour in this wind direction. There were therefore big gains and losses to be made depending on how these were negotiated before the turn and upwind leg back. On the approach to Middle head the breeze had built to a good 18 knots, so it was a great blast into the finish at the club. The pursuit style of event makes it exciting as first home wins, with the faster boats coming from behind, so the pressure is on to stay ahead towards the finish! It was terrific to see some new boats join the fleet with the Sun Odyssey 349 “Arawai” joining the other 349’s already taking part, and also the Sun Odyssey 36.2 “Buggaluggs”. Results for the day:

1st       Sun Odyssey 37 “LuLu Belle”       –           Peter Lewis

2nd       Sun Odyssey 36.2 “Buggalugs”    –           Jeremy Clarke

3rd        Sun Odyssey 349 “Arawai”                        –           Derek Minehane
