Jeanneau 51 Australian review:

The latest issue of Cruising Helmsman magazine has a full review by Editor Phil Ross on the new Jeanneau 51, three of which have been sold by PBS, with two of those already delivered. He describes the concept as for a yacht that is luxurious, speedy, but easily handled by just two people and goes on to say “The fact that Jeanneau have managed to do this on a production yacht built to a price is genius”. We couldn’t agree more.

The collaboration between naval architect Philippe Briand and interior designer Andrew Winch has resulted in a yacht that despite its somewhat simple layout has been extremely carefully designed to work perfectly in every configuration. The cockpit is the biggest in class, and when combined with the patented electric opening ‘terrace’ makes this the perfect area to spend weekends on-board with family and friends. Combined with the huge cockpit table and the clever retractable davits this cockpit area simply works perfectly, whether at sea, at anchor, or stern to on a marina.

Phil describes the Jeanneau 51 as delightful to sail and this has been the response from everyone that has sailed one here. That combination of balance and well above average stability means that as he says “this 51 will get to a destination fast”, but in our opinion it is the balance of the modern chined hull from such a highly respected naval architect that really makes this yacht shine.
