PBS co-director Ron Jacobs sailed aboard Rob Reynolds (a good friend & long time PBS Client) DK 46 “Exile” which was purchased through PBS some years ago.
“Exile” achieved a comfortable 2nd Overall on IRC in the passage race to Coffs behind the TP52 “Ragamuffin” with the Kerr GTS 43 “OCL” 3rd, and combined with 1st Overall in the 4 race regatta part of the event in Coffs.
The results being very rewarding considering the replacement rig was only fitted a few days before Xmas & left very little time for tuning the rig & boat which in fact got faster with the crew learning to press the right go fast buttons to maximize speed by the final race of the series.
The race up to Coffs was a mixture of all breeze conditions with both light & heavy air running (up to 30 knots TWS)/ plus a combination of reaching as well as working to windward.
The regatta up there was held in beautiful sunny but primarily light conditions 7-12 knots TWS. This really is a great place to sail & at this time of the year a fantastic holiday atmosphere makes for a relaxed time away from Sydney.
The next assault for Exile is the Lord Howe Island Race & IRC Nationals to be held in Newcastle this April.
