A very well optioned and maintained owner’s version of these highly acclaimed cruising yachts with new rigging and canvas.
The 409 has an excellent cockpit and this 2-cabin layout is extremely comfortable and well appointed. The cockpit has a modest fold-down swim platform with a hot & cold shower and boarding ladder, and pushpit mounted are a BBQ on the starboard side, and 3.5hp outboard on a bracket on the port. The helm seats hide the cockpit speakers and shore power connection. There is a life-raft locker between the helms with a lazarette locker to port and twin gas locker to starboard, while under the bench seats are a roomy locker to starboard and to port access into the huge dry storage locker.
The sail plan is a conventional mainsail with short-overlap headsail for ease of handling. There is also a heavy air #3 headsail and storm jib, as well as a conventional cruising spinnaker in a sock.
The canvas package is all new and consists of a spray-dodger, bimini, infill, boom-bag, cockpit table and wheel covers. And there are two 40W solar panels in front of the dodger. There are four Harken winches with the port side halyard winch being electric, and in standard guise both the mainsail and headsail sheets come back to the primary winches for easy handling from the helm.
Down below the large L-shaped galley is to starboard aft of which is the guest cabin, while to port is the head and shower, aft of which is the dry storage locker.
The port side of the saloon has twin seats with a centre nav’ table at which there is a battery monitor, invertor control, VHF and stereo. To starboard is the U-shaped dinette which has a tabletop which bi-folds and easily lowers to form an additional double for which there is an insert cushion.
The owner’s cabin is forward with lots of floor space and a vanity unit with seat as well as lockers on both sides.
