Jeanneau Design Profile – Andrew Winch:

Famed for his innovative and striking yacht interiors Andrew Winch and his design team are celebrating 30 years in the business. The Winch Design office is in Mortlake, London, which also happens to be where long-time collaborator Philippe Briand has his naval architecture base. The two have forged a relationship that has them at the top in superyacht design circles.

Winch Design have in recent years done interiors on the 162m/531ft “Dubai”, and won awards for the 99m/324ft “Madame Gu” and 62m/203ft motor yacht “Sea Owl”. Winch is an avid sailor having skippered a yacht across the Atlantic at the age of 22 having come through various dinghy classes as a teenager.

For the Jeanneau 64 Winch Design was brought in to work with the Briand design team and in his own words “The brief for the Jeanneau 64 was to shift perception about the brand, establishing coolness and desirability”. It was such a huge success that they have now collaborated on the 54, the update of the 57/58, and now the new 51 as well. Jeanneau are the deservedly the World leaders in production yachts over 50 feet and have been now for over a decade.
